My kids and I have this nightly ritual of reading. We've done it for years. And years. And even though they are in their tweens (well, the older two), they still cherish this time and will choose it over "other opportunities".
But, we've hit a snag. We have read so many books, and reread so many books, that we're running out of books! Well, not really, but you know what I mean.
We've read Eragon and Eldest (4 times each) and are eagerly awaiting the 3rd book due out in August.
We've read all of the available Ranger's Apprentice series,(twice) and are eagerly awaiting the next book due out later in March.
We've read all of the Septimus Heap books (3 times)
All the Harry Potter Books
Peter Pan series
Narnia
The Secret Garden
Freckles
and more and more and more......
So......what's your suggestion? What should we read next?

"Homecoming" by Cynthia Voight.
She has an entire series and this is the first book.
I completely fell in love with this book. Have you read any of hers?
My children are also into the "Warrior" series about cats. I haven't read it but both my 14 and 11 year old are in love with this series.
We read Pilgrim's Progress every other year for many years.
I really miss those days.
We Love:
The Princess and the Goblin and The Princess and Curdie both of which were written by George MacDonald.
We also Love:
Rebekah of Sunnybrook Farm.
I'm reading the Diary of a Wimpy Kid. which is a super easy read. SUPER FUNNY!!!!
Smooch.
How about the Encyclopedia of Organic Gardening? They could learn how to grow all the vegetables and fruits from A to Z.
I like your new blog design.
It may be a bit young but I have always adored the 'Magic Treehouse' series!! I can't wait for Cameron to get the girl's big ole box full of them!!! :D Cameron is all about 'Chicka Chicka Boom Boom'!! Does that help? :)
Gosh Sherry, it has been so long since I read to a child. I don't know what to tell you. Maybe you could read some old classics like Treasure Island, Uncle Toms Cabin.
I like your new blog template. Very sophisticated. You will have to write about Muncie and show pictures of him since I don't get to see him every time I open your blog now.
How about some nonfiction. I have read all about sharks, fish, birds, and other critters to my boys.
I was the nerdy-4-eyed-girl eating books in the corner 8)
I loved to read Jules Verne, Emilio Salgari, Luisa May Alcott, Edmondo D'Amici (his book 'Cuore' is one of my all time favorites) etc, I read anything with letters on it.
I have no kids and live in another contry, so I have no clue on what is happening with kid's books these days :( but I do recommend reading some of the oldies later on :)
Too bad they don't have a netflix for books! What is great is that you rate the movies that watch and they will make suggestions for you! This would be great in helping picking your next book!
By the way. I love your blogs new look. I got distracted by the books and such and forgot to tell you.
There is a new Peter book. Peter and the Secret of Rundoon.
Thanks for starting the blog for princess. She is thrilled!
thanks everyone for all your suggestions...I've written them down and am heading to the library!
Hugs
Try 'Touching Spirit Bear'. I know I said that in the last post. But I just noticed- there are two Christine's! I may just have to get a pic of me posted to go with my name.

I've been enjoying exploring your blog. My neighbor Cynthia Lord won a Newbury Honor for her amazing book, Rules. She home schools her autistic son and the book came out of her experience. It's very funny, like your blog. It's out in paperback now. You can read my review here:

I have a suggestion. "Outcasts of Skagaray" by Andrew Clarke,is an action adventure fantasy written for the underappreciated of the world. To preview it try www.threeswans.com.au for sample chapters.
