It Was NOT My Fault!

It's NOT my fault! I am NOT responsible!

It's HIS fault!

He even admits it! See what his t-shirt says?

"I solemnly swear I am up to no good."

We were out for a nice little family trip to run errands. I should have known better. I asked Prince Charming if he would drop me off at the Half Price Bookstore so that I could look for some of the books you all suggested. I wanted 15 minutes of peace and quiet so I could focus and make a quick trip of it.

Their errands were simple: Put gas in the car (they forgot), stop by Game Stop to pre-order a game(they did this), and get crickets for the geckos and meal worms for the turtle. This is where they got side-tracked.

I should have known. I was sending 4 people with mutant animal genes into a pet store, unsupervised.

My 15 minutes of undisturbed peace was interrupted by my children barging into the store, running up and down the aisles making a scene, yelling "MOOOMMMMM?"

I was thinking..."Please, let that be someone else's kids yelling, not mine, please not mine..."

But it was.

"Mom! Mom! Come quick! There are dogs just like Gracie next door!"
(Gracie is Beth's dog at Around the Funny Farm)

"Just like Gracie?"

I'm thinking...if they are truly Toy Australian Shepherds, they would not be in a pet store. I know..I've been calling a lot of breeders lately.

"Welllll.....sorta. They have something else mixed in too, but they're really cute!"

The something else turned out to be Blue Tick Hound.

And they were correct. They were cute. Too cute.

How could we not?

See the heart shape on the top of her little head?

Prince Charming said these decisions have to be made with the heart,

and it was the right thing to do.

But, don't worry Muncie.

We love you too, and you will forever be the Alpha Dog at our Zoo!

**I am laughing with you!**

I've had a hound dog before though. Great, great family dog. She was a Black and Tan hound dog.

Your puppy is sweet!

She is cute. We will have to go see her. I knew you would get one soon, but I thought it would be after the wedding.

+She actually called me (grandma) to see if I would be mad if they got a dog. But before they called me she made arrangements for her brother-in-law to baby sit the puppy while they're at an out-of-town wedding. (I have my own dog who is as energetic as I am. That is, she likes to sleep a lot). As any one knows who has ever had a pup, you need lots of energy, & the ability to get up in the night like you would as if you had a baby. So many thanks to Bob for his offer to pup-sit.

Ummm, how big will Victoria get?

Muncie is still the Queen, right?

And why didn't you name the new dog Beatrix Potter? I want someone to name one of their pets Beatrix Potter!

Sherry, do you realize the breed characteristics on the link you included??? Here they are...

* friendly
* particularly challenging to train
* very intelligent
* uncanny knack for problem-solving
* give this breed plenty of space
* salivates heavily
* loud, constant, howling barkers
* can be a challenge to pet owners
* "sniff" strangers until satisfied

Sounds fun -- for YOU GUYS. ;) The puppy is very darling though!!

Hi Sherry! Congratulations on the new member of your family. You did the right thing. Go with your heart. THAT is an adorable pup!

I enjoyed this post and want to visit more often!

You asked about hummingbird feeders and what I feed them. I copied this from my comment back to you:

Hi Sherry at the Zoo, try a feeder. They need the nectar from flowers and feeders to maintain their energy for catching bugs! I bring to a boil 4 parts water and 1part sugar. I store a large container in my frig - 16 cups water to 4 cups sugar. Good luck!

Let see more of that cute little girl :o)

I am happy for you??? Add 15+ years until I can come to visit again. I think that you are crazy. But, I guess that I am a little jealous too. Is there anything cuter than a puppy? Except for a new grandbaby! Are you sure that you don't want to name her "Maggie"? If we ever get another dog, her name will be Maggie. Maybe Alan will bring home a baby from China and we can name her Maggie. Leigh

Sherry, I love the way you tell stories, you are so funny. Did you get anything good at Half-Price Books?

Congratulations on the new member of the family.

This was a wonderful story for someone who lives a thousand miles away to read - you really are trying to acquire a menagerie, aren't you! I can't imagine leaving the house on errands and coming home with a new family member.

Guess I'm more in tune with Carol...the most interesting part of having a dog would be that you get to name it, LOL. Have fun and good luck, Sherry!
