AnotherTypical Day at the Zoo

In addition to homeschooling the kids, taking care of Prince Charming, and the zoo, and the garden, I work outside of the home part-time.

Friday was a work day.

I was in work mode. I was thinking of super-bugs like pseudomonas, mrsa, and diseases like HIV, tuberculosis...you know, fun stuff! Stuff that challenges my brain.

ring..ring...ring...

"Good-morning. Infection Control. This is Sherry. How may I help you?"

"Mom??"

This BETTER be good.

"MomVictoriahastapeonherhead."

What?

"Tape-on-her-head."

"Well, just pull it off."

"I can't. It's stuck."

"Well, take her into Grandma's room. Have her help you. I'm working right now. Bye."

ring...ring...ring...

"Good morning, Infection Control. This is Sherry. How may I help you?"

Prince Charming: "What's this about tape around Victoria's neck and Grandma calling 911?"

"WHAT?" That was NOT the same version I got.

I hung up and called home. I had pictured in my mind a little ball of duct-tape stuck to Victoria's head.

I wasn't thinking like this.......

Poor puppy.

Please. Do not call 911. (We'll be the laughing stock of the fire department).

Hello? My doggy has a role of duct tape around her neck. Ummm...could you come save her please? I could just see that 911 tape hitting the 6:00 news.

I hung up and called A2, who as luck would have it was out and about. A2 used to work at a real zoo, with real animals. Without hesitation she went into rescue mode and went to the house. (Thank you...thank you...thank you....)

Meanwhile, Grandma made her own call to the next door neighbor. The new neighbor. The one that hasn't even officially moved in yet. (They've been renovating the house next door for about 6 months now). The one who still lives across town. The wife called her husband, who was out and about and without hesitation went into rescue mode and went to our house. (Thank you...thank you....thank you.... oh, and by the way...Welcome to the neighborhood! He has now seen my house a pit, my mother and my children in their pajamas, and my dog with duct tape around her neck - yee haw).

The tools.
The spoils.
The Victory.

The Rescuer (one of them).

All's well that ends well.

Right Victoria? Now, stay away from duct tape and be good!

Wow this is funny as heck and reminds me of my days.......

Once my son called me screaming because his cockatiel bird was hanging by its beak for its life. It had caught itself like a fish on the hook of a toy that hangs in its cage. What a day that was!
The bird lived but I aged a few years LOL

Goodness! Sounds like the kinds of things that happen in our household! :) We don't have quite as many animals and no kids yet so I bet the best is yet to come in the antics department. Question though...HOW did the tape get on her head in the first place? :) Hehe!

Okay.. Did Victoria somehow get that around her neck or did a child put it there? lol

I bet you were dieing at work receiving those phone calls!

Oh you just made me feel so much better about my day yesterday. At least no one thought to call 911 when I got the truck stuck in the mud and the cabbage exploded. Let us just call yesterday Freaky Friday. That is one cute puppy.

LOL! Tears running down my face. That kind of reminds me of when my son was a toddler & got a heavy-duty cardboard bucket stuck on his head. (I freed him with a little olive oil.) It's amazing the troubles puppies can get into.

Sherry, you need to write a book. Really, I mean it. I'm finished laughing here, but I gotta tell you - you really know how to tell a story. As author, call yourself, "Zookeeper".

LOL!

Glad all turned out well... poor Victoria :o)

Omigosh! I couldn't stop laughing! How sweet - and how nice of your new neighbor to help you out. What little monkeys they are, aren't they? At least you're laughing, though. What joy they bring us!!!! I'd love to snuggle that little one - she is cute as a bug.

I'm sure the next time the phone rings at work and the caller says, "mom?"...You'll be wondering, "what now?!" lol... ;o)

...Blessings... :o)

Oh my goodness. What a day you had!!

I think I will remember this post when I feel like maybe I am having a full rough day!

Glad to hear that it all ended well! :-)

Aw, poor puppy! She looks so forlorn with that roll around her neck. Thank you for the laugh!

Sherry I thought it was just your sense of humor that made you come up with the title of you blog. But now I understand it really is a zoo!

Okay, that has to be the funniest dog story ever! My kids and husband loved it too. I thought no pooch could be stupider than ours. You should see her thick file at the vet's - totally suicidal pup. I'm not sure where that should be filed under dumb dogs or 101 uses for duct tape. In Maine we use the stuff for everything. Sometimes juggling work and family is...sticky!

Thanks for visiting my blog too.

I laugh now, but I can imagine your day, thinking about that 911 call and an impossible tape emergency!
