Dog Show Day

It was a risky thing to do, I admit it. But the oldest wasn't feeling well, so I couldn't go along. I really couldn't. It's not my fault. Blame the oldest. (It was probably a conspiracy, now that I think of it.)

Here they are, ready for action. Those defective animal genes in high gear......

(For those of you unfamiliar with the defective animal gene, it is defined as "the inability to say "no" to any stray that comes within a 5 mile radius, the inability to say "no" to a shivery-scared-poor me look displayed by any animal in a pet store, and the inability to say "no" to anyone who asks you to take in the pet they have grown tired of." The gene also requires you to carry outside, all creatures (spiders, ants, mice, etc) that may inadvertently wander inside, and to cry inconsulably when you accidently step on any living thing).

Their senses queued up, ready to hone in on......

The Dog of our Family Dreams - a Newfoundland

Who is this guy with my prince and princesses? Get away! Don't you know these people have defective animal genes??

That's right. Turn around. Don't make eye contact. They bond easily you know. If they bond, it will be too late. You go dog, go. I'm not quite ready for you yet.....maybe one day.

I'm pretty sure I saw a business card or two in Prince Charming's hand when they came home....

We have the genetic disposition for animals too.

We've brought more kittens home from horse shows over the years than should be legal! lol Only two puppies though... thank goodness!

When the family came home they proudly announced they didn't buy a single thing (or dog). Tho I know the dog shows weren't selling dogs (which is probably one reason they came home empty handed) it's still scarie because they come into contact with dog breeders (who have little cards to hand out). I still think our next dog should be an orphan whose life will be cut short if someone doesn't take him home.

My MIL has the animal gene...I know at some point there was a dog, more than seven cats, a couple of hamsters, a few birds, a mouse and a rabbit. She did not pass the animal gene to her son because my kids cannot get daddy to agree on a dog! We have moved up from goldfish to hamster and I am hopeful the dog will be coming soon!
Thanks for stopping by my blog;-)

Loved your animal pictures! I have the gene, and these days my dogs are VERY defective lately -- huge vet bills and lots of meds later, they seem on the mend. It's harder with kids, too, isn't it? Hard to say no to them. But my husband says it's either a third dog, or him. I'm tempted sometimes!!!

We have one dog, two parakeits, and at the moment six cats. It's almost spring, so ask me that again in June. And you know how hard it is to give away ALL the kittens, when you have all these kids begging for 'just this one'.

I'm glad to know where I can find people with the defective animal genes;0). I have one cat, Whiskers, and a sweet little white fluffy mutt named Lilly. We haven't always been so lucky to have such good pets. Our first dog was, well, let's just say she found herself a new home {literally}...ahhh a blog topic for another day.
blessings,

I cannot believe you actually allowed your Dear Ones to go to a dog show...AND get their picture taken with such a huge sweetie. You are really slipping there Mizzy.

P.S. You obviously got your land line fixed. Don't you just hate to have to deal with those big companies?? A necessary evil.

I am glad you liked your little award. I think it most appropriate becasue your blog is full of love and laughter. I believe we all need this to get through this world full of dramatic landmines.

Your playing with fire, letting your kids go with their Dad to a dog show without a proper chaperone.

Thanks everyone for your wonderful comments. Lisa...our landline is still not fixed :-( If we didn't have high-speed internet, I would be REALLY having a cow.....

Hugs,

I have never been to a dog show before! I do feel that I should go one day! Those dogs are so beautiful!

Sherry, we had a Newfoundland once, and she was the worst dog ever. I love animals but I HATED that dog. They are supposed to be gentle giants, she was anything but. I was terrified of her. We spent a fortune trying to train her professionally, she was still a monster. One of the happiest days of my life was when we found another home for her. Make sure you use a good reputable breeder if you ever get one. A dog that big has to be good tempered and gentle or someone could end up dead.

Uh oh, I just realised that I have a defective animal gene too. Oh well.

I agree with Carol that you were playing with fire when you let them go to the show without a chaperone.

Sherry, take heed of what Robin said about Newfoundlands & what a disaster it could be. If Seth wants a Corgie, think about it

I love those dogs and I am not a dog person. If you get one I'd have to come over everyday and squeeze on it. Are you sure you're not ready???? Smooch.
