Garden Bloggers Hoe Down

Its here! It's here! It's THE EVENT OF THE YEAR!
The First Annual (or is it the one and only?) HOEDOWN!
The first victim --- uh, I mean sweet precious hoe......
What's your name?

"Uh...HOE. Mr. HOE."

How old are you Mr. Hoe?

"Older than the hills. I belonged to Prince Charming's Grandmother and if I remember correctly, her mother. Maybe even her mother..... or was it her dad?"

"I've seen a lot of gardens in my day."

"Hey kid. I'm too old to swing. GET ME DOWN FROM HERE!"

Meet Mr. Pitchfork.

Mr. Pitchfork. Same age as Mr. Hoe.

Old. Old. Old. 1800's old. Well, early 1900's for sure.

I've seen Carol cast a roving eye at this hoe.

She covets it. I know.

BUT. Not as much as this one. This is the one Sophia hides when Aunt Carol comes over.

Doesn't it look majestic? Born before the time of electricity, now at home in a garden with power lines overhead. It knows it's got a job to do, same job as the past 100 years (or so).

It will continue forever more, happily ever after.

At the Zoo....Where it belongs....

Wait a minute...all of our gardening implements seem to be quite old. Is that right? Is that fair?

Yes, after careful reflection, it is befitting of a garden to feel the caress over and over of one with maturity and knowledge, with memories of numerous other gardens embedded in it's metal and wood. Guided by experience, it caresses the earth.

So....we will end this post here... a tribute to the elders of the gardening implements.

A great post for the kickoff to the Hoe down. No wonder Carol covets the hoe. Pedigree.

lol, I am cracking up at Mr. Hoe. For some reason I would expect a hoe to be female. :)

Those certainly are some find old hoes. I would keep using them too, as long as they still work. If not, you can always retire them to come live with my old hoes and get some new ones for yourself!

It's quite a hoe down, isn't it? Come see my hoes, all 22 of them.

Hi - thanks for visiting my site and having a peek at my hoe. It's nowhere near as venerable as yours are though. I think you're right - Carol must be coveting them - quick guys hide!

I think I'm seeing a trade in the future...a hoe for a doorbell?

I love this post!
Good to be back in the blogging world again!

Have a great weekend!

What a great post, Sherry! And very, very wise of your Sophia to keep a few of these implements hidden when Aunt Carol comes to visit. She seems to be the Pied Piper when it comes to Garden Hoes!

LoL, you gotta love that hoe!!

I can see why you might hide all these when Carol comes over. But I'm sure she is happy that you are giving these heirlooms the respect they deserve.

I don't blame Carol. I covet some of those old hoes too.

What a nice collection of old Hoes you have! I'll bet they have a better work ethic than those new-fangled hoes, don't you think?

Who knew old hoes could be so refreshing? Admittedly, it doesn't work that way for people... ;)
